John MacDonald joined his family’s business, Ideal Supply Co. Ltd. in 1983 and is now Vice President, Sales and Marketing. John with his brother and sister purchased Ideal Supply from their father in 1997. Ideal Supply Co Ltd is a sales organization and distributor of electrical supplies and NAPA auto parts, based in Listowel, with 31 branch locations across South Western Ontario. For the past 5 years, Ideal Supply has been named one of Canada’s top 50 best managed companies.

John is a graduate of Georgian College in Barrie with a Business Administration diploma and a major in marketing. In 1994, John returned to CAI as the instructor of the Aftermarket Course.
 
In 2002, John received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Georgian College and was nominated for the Premiers Award that same year.
 
John has always been actively involved in community organizations. He has sat on the board of numerous organizations including the Listowel Golf and Country Club, Habitat for Humanity, Listowel Hospital Board and has been the Chair of his church’s executive as well as Trustee. John is the immediate past Chairman of the Board for The Automotive Industries of Canada.  He has also chaired AIA’s WD/Wholesalers Council as well as the Young Executive Society.
 
John also sits on the Canadian marketing committee for Affiliated Distributors who are an electrical North American marketing organization based out of King of Prussia in the United States.
 
John resides in Listowel with his wife Norma and two sons.
