Automotive Industries Association of Canada Extends Congratulations to Kathleen Wynne on Liberal Leadership Victory
January 28, 2013, Ottawa – The Automotive Industries Association of Canada extends its congratulations to Kathleen Wynne on her victory this weekend as Ontario’s new Liberal Leader and Premier of Ontario.
“As President and CEO of the Automotive Industries Association of Canada, I look forward to working with Ms. Wynne to ensure Ontario continues on its path toward safer and greener roads,” said Marc Brazeau, President and CEO, AIA Canada.
The automotive aftermarket is a $19.4 billion industry that contributes more than $6.4 billion to Ontario’s economy every year and employs 122,500 Ontarians in virtually every community across the province. Its members represent the backbone of the province’s economy, from manufacturers, re-builders, warehouse distributors, national distributors, buying groups, wholesalers, machine shops, and retailers including collision repair shops and automotive service and repair outlets.
“We share many of the same objectives with this government, including a focus on road safety to help make Ontario’s roads the safest in the world,” said Brazeau. “Educating consumers on the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and repairs to ensure that only the safest vehicles are on Ontario’s roads is increasingly imperative as our vehicle fleet ages. We look forward to collaborating with the Ontario Government on this issue.”
