AIA believes that as good corporate citizens we have a responsibility to our member company employees and the public to ensure their safety. AIA members endeavour to comply with all government laws and regulations in the Health and Safety area.
AIA also believes in promoting best practices amongst members. While AIA is committed to the health & safety, many of our members and our customers are small business people, as such we also believe that health and safety regulations must be reasonable and that all organizations and industries must be placed on a level playing field.
With regards to the transportation of dangerous goods, AIA supports the government's goal to ensure that dangerous goods are transported in an environmentally and healthy fashion. AIA believes its role is to educate its members on this issue, emphasizing the importance of appropriate TDG training. AIA devotes considerable resources to sharing information, best practices, and distance learning courses in this regard.
AIA believes that a number of motor vehicle accidents each year are caused, at least in part, by mechanical failure because motorists have not maintained their vehicle. AIA believes that those accidents could be reduced if safety inspections were in place in each of the provinces.
