Women’s Knowledge & Networking Event – presented by AWAKE

September 28 2017 @ 02:00 pm - September 28 2017 @ 06:30 pm

What is Your Legacy?

The dictionary would define Legacy as a gift or a bequest that is handed down, endowed or conveyed from one person to another.

What do you want to be remembered for in your career? Is it being a mentor to someone who can learn from the experience you have gained or is it paving the way for someone to follow in your career footsteps; or is your legacy to be the best person you can be?

The Women’s Knowledge & Networking Event is an opportunity to help you define what your legacy will be.

The Women’s Knowledge & Networking Event is an event about shared vision and connecting with like-minded people who know where you are coming from and where you want to go. Take the opportunity to network with your peers and colleagues to share your diverse perspectives with each other.

France Daviault – Addressing the Labour Crunch

Activity 1 – Advancing Women in Automotive Knowledge Exchange (AWAKE)
In 2015, AIA Canada partnered with Status of Women of Canada to look at the current experience of women working in the automotive aftermarket, gain a better understanding of their perceptions and experiences, and examine existing recruitment, retention and advancement practices. Since then, research was conducted, a report published, a mentorship program created and soon an HR Tool Kit will be available to help industry address the issue of diversity in the workplace. Find out why there aren’t more women choosing a career in automotive and how why it makes sense for this to change.

Activity 2 – AIA’s Labour Market Intelligence Tool – AutoConnex
Hiring and retaining the right people is difficult. Where can you find good employees; how much should you pay; and what skills are in demand? Lack of information on skilled workforce is one of the biggest challenges of the Canadian automotive aftermarket industry. The solution? AIA Canada is building AutoConnex– a website for the automotive aftermarket industry that will show: the labour shortages and surpluses; compensation data; skills level and training requirements; and much more. Find out how to make this work for your bottom line.
