The Automotive Industries Association of Canada is pleased to inform you, our members in British Columbia, that a new provincial division has been created for your province. The inaugural meeting took place in Richmond on Friday, April 15 and was attended by five (5) AIA members.
All of us in the automotive aftermarket know that our industry is in the process of much change and faces a number of challenges. While AIA Canada and its staff play a large role in how the industry responds to these changes and challenges, it has been shown across the country that the presence of a strong, local division is of huge benefit to our collective efforts.
The enthusiasm and knowledge of local volunteers can help identify provincial issues and can work with the national office to deliver effective government relations events at the provincial level. Additionally, grassroots activities at career fairs and local schools have proven to be the most effective way to engage young people in considering a career in the automotive aftermarket. Lastly, local members have the opportunity to get together on a more frequent basis to discuss concerns and share ideas on programming, events, training, and growth opportunities.
For all these reasons, we are looking for additional volunteers who would be willing to share their time, energy and passion to help build a strong, effective division in British Columbia. We encourage anyone who is interested to contact any of the five (5) individuals listed below who attended the kick-off meeting. These initial conversations will flesh out ideas and opportunities and will aid developing a plan for ongoing activities in the Division.
We cannot overstate the positive impact a local division can have in improving our industry and with your help we look forward to a strong and effective presence in British Columbia.
