AIA would like to thank Canadian Auto Parts Suppliers (CAPS) for hosting some of our staff during the CAPS Expo at the EY Centre in Ottawa on Thursday March 3rd.
Andrew Shepherd (Senior Director – Industry Programs) talked to students about all the career opportunities available to workers in the automotive aftermarket. Shepherd outlined the size and scope of the automotive aftermarket and noted that entry-level positions exist from manufacturers and distributors through to service providers. And while jobs are available immediately, he stressed that great, lifelong careers are on offer as well. The watchword for the industry over the next few years will be constant change, with component telemetry and connected vehicles arriving very rapidly. Shepherd emphasized that the aftermarket needs people who love learning and love change.
Membership Coordinator Igor Minic manned the booth in the exhibitor area and spoke with students and businesses alike about the automotive aftermarket, career opportunities, AIA services and programs like our Notice to Consumers and Be Car Care Aware.
