Yesterday, the Trump Administration sent a letter to Congress that triggered the 90-day consultation period that precedes NAFTA renegotiation talks.
As your industry association, we are committed to ensuring that the automotive aftermarket is engaged and informed during this time period and that our members have a voice on this important issue.
As such, we're planning on creating a community of practice - an automotive aftermarket industry cluster - around trade related issues to keep our stakeholders abreast of developments surrounding NAFTA.
The first step will be a conference call to bring together stakeholders such as members, government, and other associations to discuss:
- AIA's NAFTA file.
- What does the NAFTA renegotiation process involve?
- What opportunities exist for the aftermarket industry to engage in NAFTA renegotiations?
- What are the interests of the aftermarket industry in NAFTA renegotiations?
Following the call, we will develop a one-page position paper that will provide an overview of the Canadian aftermarket industry and its position on NAFTA. A draft of this paper will be shared for review.
