In 2017, the Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) established the foundation of how the aftermarket landscape will forever be altered with the introduction of the Connected, autonomous, shared, and electric (CASE) platform. AIA Canada’s latest report, A CASE of Disruption—Economic Impacts to the Canadian Automotive Aftermarket, further explores the impact of these vehicles over a span of 30 years, starting in 2020.

The report estimates that at the beginning, effects would be small as new technologies are introduced gradually. By 2051, the impacts would be much more significant with thousands of job losses and negative impacts to the economy making it harder to ignore the ramifications of these technologies.
