AIA Canada’s Quebec Division presents three Raymond Savard scholarships at CETEMMM’s Gala Méritas
On June 4, nearly 70 deserving students had the opportunity to celebrate the end of their academic journey at the 38th edition of the Gala Méritas of the Comité Éducation Travail en Équipement Motorisé du Montréal Métropolitain (CETEMMM) at Édouard-Montpetit high school in Montréal, Quebec.
This annual recognition evening was intended to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the top graduates of the Greater Montréal’s automotive industry vocational training centres (VTC). Bringing together nearly 400 participants, this initiative aims to encourage the next generation of the industry and promote professional training. These are priorities for the automotive service industry in the current context of skills shortages and challenges related to technological change and the electrification of vehicles.
Mario Comtois, member of AIA Canada’s Quebec Division, presented Raymond Savard bursaries of $500 each to three deserving students on behalf of the Association.
Several AIA Canada’s Quebec Division members were also present at the Gala Méritas of the CETEMMM to support the next generation of our industry.
The honoured students come from eight different vocational training centres of the Greater Montréal and were selected by mechanical and collision teachers based on the following selection criteria: attendance; punctuality; performance; perseverance and work ethic (safety, behaviour, social skills).
The VTC members of the CETEMMM grouping are:
- Centre Daniel-Johnson
- Centre de formation Compétence Rive-Sud
- Centre de formation professionnelle de Verdun
- Centre de formation professionnelle Laurier Macdonald
- École des métiers de l’équipement motorisé de Montréal
- École des métiers spécialisés de Laval
- Nova Career Centre
- West Island Career Centre
