Call for participation: Canada Training Benefit survey
July 12, 2019
The Government of Canada wants to hear from employers, workers, training institutions, and labour organizations about the Canada Training Benefit (CTB).
The objective of the CTB is to help Canadians upgrade their skills so they can participate in work environments that are being shaped by new technologies and automation.
The CTB provides workers with two things to support them to upgrade their skills—time and money.
Key provisions of the CTB include the following:
- Leave provisions would protect workers who take time off work to obtain training.
- Workers would accumulate $250 per year for a lifetime limit of $5,000 (original amount stated by government) with eligibility requirements related to accumulated hours of work and income earnings.
- Workers would receive income support for a specified period to take training.
