Skills in Today’s Digital Economy Survey (en anglais seulement)

Do you work for a manufacturer in the automotive aftermarket industry?

In partnership with Industry Canada, ICTC is conducting an important study entitled Skills in Today’s Digital Economy. Their aim is to get a clear understanding of the skills required to effectively contribute to today’s globally connected digital economy.

Advanced manufacturing, smart transportation, intelligent retail, connected banking, and many others will play a defining role in enhancing economic and job growth for Canadians in the next five years. Businesses are increasingly relying on technologies to offer new products and services and increase their scope and scale. At the heart of this business transformation is talent that needs to be continually in-step with technological advancements, and business savvy, well-honed in workplace skills. A clear understanding of the skills required in the digital economy would help frame a coherent approach for building skills for the new economy. It would also help design the appropriate policy responses to ensure that Canadian firms are taking full advantage of digital technology adoption. The objective of this project is to get a clear understanding of the skills required to ensure workers’ ability to adjust to and use new technologies so that they can effectively contribute to the digital economy. The survey will explore:

  • Technology adoption and growth

  • Skills requirements

  • Skills challenges and strategies, and

  • Workplace challenges and HR practices
